Home/Ear Training/Relative Pitch
Lesson 1 of 2

Relative Pitch

Listen to two notes played in sequence and identify the interval between them. Reach a streak of 15 to complete this lesson.

Training Your Ear

Relative pitch is the ability to identify the distance between two notes without knowing their exact names. Unlike absolute (perfect) pitch, which is rare, relative pitch is a trainable skill that improves with practice.

Tips for beginners

Start with Easy mode (fewer intervals). Focus on the character of each interval — does it sound happy, sad, tense, or open?

Building accuracy

Use the replay button freely. Try singing the interval back before answering. Consistency matters more than speed — accuracy builds naturally.
